A new hope?

Aidan Smith seems to have better sources than we have, and every so often he drops a snippet or two our way [see the comment on Do Something Good For Christmas]. The fact that bruxby is going away is great news, that he is coming back less so but we can hope that this is the home straight before he is gone for good. How big has the contribution from the parish of St Augustine’s been this time? Mr Smith told us last time that he went Upper Class – we hope that is is not doin so this time.

The lame duck bishop is out to pasture and we are waiting for a better replacement. In his case almost anybody will be an improvement but the other vacency – the Apostolic Nuncio – will be a far harder position to fill and we wish His Excellency Faustino Sainz Muñoz well in his retirement and advise his succeessor, His Excellency Antonio Mennini, that we expect him to be as diligent as his Archbishop Sainz Muñoz was in our hour of need.
